30+ Indoor Preschool Activities (STEM edition!)

As a mom of littles, I know how important hands on activities are for learning sake, and our sanity! I recently learned what STEM activities are, and have been incorporating them into our every day play.

All of these 30+ activities use simple materials that almost everyone has either in the pantry, or can find at their local dollar store. I tried to find activities that were sensory based, encouraged learning, and science touched.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.

According to The Edvocate in their article about 7 Benefits of STEM Education, when using this approach you will see:

  • Fosters ingenuity and creativity

  • Builds resilience

  • Encourages experimentation

  • Encourages teamwork

  • Encourages knowledge application

  • Encourages tech use

  • Teaches problem-solving

  • Encourages adaption

  30. Ocean Zones For Kids: Learning About The Amazing Ocean

I wrote this article in the midst of being completely overwhelmed by the isolation of Covid, have bored kids who are eager to learn, and was needing some ideas to pass time. I really fell in love with these creative, yet simple, ideas to help your children learn.

I also find myself continuously learning from my children’s curriculum and materials because of a few reasons:

    • I am forced to comprehend, digest, and share the information

    • The resources I find online often push me to break it down to an age appropriate level

    • I “connect the dots” in so many areas of my life because I am learning things at an age MY brain is nearly fully developed

Whenever you feel discouraged, just remember, you are the centre of the universe to those tiny humans you made from scratch. You’re kind of a big deal!

Learning from home has created a bond with my children that has become strengthened. I we have had to learn more about each other and deepen our understanding about each other, which truly have been an amazing gift.

If you haven’t already taken the opportunity to check out my entire homeschool section, I truly feel like you would fall in love with all the free content I have provided! I know that times are difficult, and wanting to save money is always an amazing plus!

Did you know…

I have an entire article on 60+ free homeschool resources!

I wanted to fill your feeling of “lost” on the topic of homeschooling, and provide resources from curriculum for all ages, kindergarten worksheets, elementary resources, middle school resources, high school resources, homeschooling planners, faith building worksheets, parenting resources, and even moms on YouTube who share their stories.
